Advent, by loneraven. It's in Connie Willis' Doomsday Book/To Say Nothing of the Dog universe. It's beautiful and moving and occasionally heart-wrenching. I can't recommend it highly enough.

For those of you still looking for good movieverse fic, there's sherlock2009, which appears to be for fic of all kinds, and, via settiai, the newly-created games_afoot, which will permit Holmes/Watson but focuses on 'ships other than Holmes/Watson, with a preference for OT3 and OT4. Also, cox_and_co (and cox_and_co) is a Holmes/Watson fic community that predates the movie 'verse but now includes movie 'verse fic, and Dreamwidth has holmes_watson. And, of course, as everyone probably knows due to recent F_W infamy, there is holmeswatson09. (Which, contrary to the apparent opinion of some of its members, is for Holmes/Watson fic based on, you know, the 2009 movie. Not, say, fic written in 2009, or source material from 1909. In case you wondered.)

Also, blue_soaring has a lovely bit of Holmes/Watson UST here. (It's interesting to me that the (admittedly little) moviefic I've seen has tended to put Watson in the woobie role due to ( Teeny movie spoiler ) when, as I understand it, classic Holmes would make Holmes the cocaine-addict woobie. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding.)

Yay for festivids ! I have given beta comments on 7 (or is it 8? I'm tired) vids so far! It's so much fun! Wheeeeeeeee!

But just a warning that I will likely not be able to handle (m)any more before the deadline, as this is a very heavy work week for me. :( I'll try my best if anyone is desperate.

I've got one child crying/whining because she doesn't want to do her homework.

And the other is crying for no reason I can disern, except possibly he's come to the realization that he's not allowed back into the womb.

And my husband decides now is the time to fill out a school questionnaire....by shouting out the questions to me over the din of wailing.

I forgot to mention I met Miranda Otto in Sydney. I figured that'd be appreciated here, since we're all such LOTR fans. Eowyn herelf. So yeah, that was pretty fun :)

Also, after that shit they pulled last night, there is no way I am watching Desperate Housewives ever again. I've been waning for a while and this was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Say what you want about crappier, lesser known/watched shows but they try their best to somewhat satisfy their fans. Some shows that get Emmy and Golden Globe nominations like DH and Ugly Betty seem to not appreciate good chemistry even if it bites them in the ass, nor do they give a damn what the fans want. Sometimes that's a good thing. Most times, as in this case, it loses viewers.

I think that my fingerprints are all over this vid, so much so that the failure to actually put my name on it is just a formality, but we'll see. (I don't know how the "guess the author" thing that some authors do with Yuletide works, exactly, but I assume vidders will do something similar with festivids).

So, now, all that's left to do is wait for the vids to go live.

...I hate waiting.

Oh, quick question - I operate on Windows. I could still get an iPod, right? I mean, iTunes would still work and everything? I know it's a ridiculous thing to have to ask but I've never so much as touched an iPod and up until now I've been using a generic mp3 player. But my mp3 player is about to die, and the company doesn't even manufacture them anymore, so ... I think I finally need to bite the iPod bullet.

Edit: It appears yes, I can get an iPod. So now I'll just have to suck it up and do that. I've put it off long enough....
