Consists of NOTHING. For the first time since 2003, I've not vidded a single, solitary frame. I think I might just have died a little inside as a result :o(

I did, however, rename all the photos taken since Griffin was born by date, sorted them into folders by month and year, cropped and saved lower-res versions of the favourites for 6x4 printing and uploading to Picasa Web (for additional backup purposes), and arranged said hard copies into proper old-fashioned photo albums (with Pooh and Tigger on them!). So that's something, right?

Vidding frenzy

After everything that's gone down this year, I've had very little time to do anything fandom-related at all. But suddenly I am all a-twitter with vid bunnies. They're old ones, for the most part, but I have a renewed passion to do them. One is multi-movie-fandom, and I've been clipping that for some time, since there is MUCH source. One is my oldest fandom, but the newest idea (provided by starlet2367 ). One is for my last big fandom love, and one is for a fandom that I've never vidded or talked about, but have always rather liked.

The plan is to clip all 4 of them first, and then I can edit one after the other. I dislike clipping, but it's good to do when I just have a random half-hour here and there. Hopefully by the time I get to actually edit, I'll have a bit more free time up my sleeve. Anyway, I have that happy, fluttery, new-vid feeling, and I missed it. I'm glad it's back.

That is the sound of Claire discovering that while deleting S5 of House from her external hard drive the other night (since hubby bought the DVDs) she inadvertently deleted EVERYTHING. All the downloaded shows, and the backup files for a bunch of other stuff. *headdesk*

Thankfully, I'd backed the shows up to another external drive, bar half a season of Seeker and the latest SGU, but still, what a PAIN transferring it all back. And I can't remember if there was anything else on there that I need to re-back-up to it.

At least I don't think I've actually lost anything (Seeker/SGU notwithstanding). I hope. GULP.

We're having a heck of a time getting Griffin to brush his teeth (or to allow us to brush them). We do it every night and often it ends in heartbroken hysterical sobbing (his, not mine) while hubby holds him still. We've tried everything from distraction to electric brushes to all brushing our teeth together... and currently we're pinning our hopes on a sticker reward chart.

Tonight...
Me: Time to brush your teeth now.
G: Yeah! (pause) I still crying.
Me: You don't need to cry, I'll be very quick and gentle.
G: *pout*
Me: Remember what I said would happen if we don't clean your teeth? They'll all drop out.
G: They falling on the floor and won't work anymore.
Me: That's right. You won't be able to eat your biscuits.
G: I still crying.

*sings* There is no recession in New Zealand... (that's actually a real song, LOL) As of yesterday, we are officially, technically, out of recession. Our economy, microscopic speck of a thing that it is, grew 0.1%. Can I get a hell, yeah? Maybe that means I'll get a pay rise next year, since I got sweet FA this year.

Apparently the red dust that covered Sydney yesterday is due here today, so it might get a bit hazy. But it's supposed to bucket with rain so that might mean we don't even see it.

Finally - I'm looking for music recs, pretty please. I've been listening to the same mixed CD in my car for months, and it's getting mighty boring. And I know you guys have impeccable taste. So to give you an idea, here's what I'm enjoying right now. Please, if you have anything similar in mind you think I'd like, recommend the artist. I don't need downloads, just ideas :o)

Fannish stuff

Wow, it's ages since I've made any sort of fannish post. But I did promise fan_eunice the other day that I would try to rectify that.

Firstly - new LJ layout! I'd had the same one (with the gorgeous SG-1 banner by psychofilly ) for several years now, and since I'm not really into any one show anymore, I finally decided to go for something more generic. So I've updated it to match my website a little better. littleheaven70

Also, last night I watched Bones 5x01

Okay, so the ep itself was all right. It was nice to see the team back together. Loved Brennan's often pedantic and socially awkward statements. I missed "intern of the week" - that was one feature from last season that amused me. But I think there was a glaring continuity issue that really bugged me. Didn't Brennan get stabbed in the forearm by the scalpel-wielding maniac? However, in the remainder of the scenes, she was wearing short sleeves and there was not a blemish on her. Is it possible the stabbing scene was added later?

I'm assuming they're going to play out Booth's doubt about the reality of his feelings for much of the season, just to ramp up the UST. I hope they handle it delicately. I've always felt the writers kind of bludgeoned me over the head with the whole relationship thing. Rather than leave me to read between the lines there's often some sort of clunky scene at the end just in case I'm not picking up on the chemistry. Sometimes viewers are smart enough that you don't have to spell it all out in little, easy-to-understand words. Really.
